Text: James 1:2-4 NIV

The word perseverance comes from the greek word “hopemone”
which means steadfastness & the ability to “actively” endure situations under pressure.

For example, when someone being pressured, someone being tested and someone being tried are great examples of pressure. I am sure that some of us may have played sports…or have watched sports or have been in some kind of competition. Now, when you are competing there is all kinds of pressure that is on you, you are pressured by your team, pressured by your sponsors and pressured by your fans…to win. A few weeks ago I watched the Raptors game and as I watched I could you can see the pressure on the faces of the players. Now, Paul describes this pressure in the context of a race. Hebrews 12:1NIV says this, Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,

And so, when you are going through your problems, your situations and your trials you are going to feel a ton of pressure while going through it. Why? because you are in a race. You are being tested and you are being tried in this race.

And so, Where do I find the strength to persevere through the pressures of life?

1). I find strength In the Word of God. Daniel 9:1-3NIV & Luke 22:42

2). Know that God is faithful no matter what. 1 corinthians 10:13 NIV; Hebrews 12: 1-2

3). I Align myself with What God is saying and doing & not what i think. Romans 5:3-5 NIV
