Text: John 8:31-32

Now, when you hear the word freedom, the words that comes to mind is liberation, rights and entitlement. In fact, in the dictionary the word means; the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.
But here is the truth about freedom that many people don’t know especially the younger generation & is that freedom is is not always free.. you see, any freedom that we have cost something. For example, it can cost money, time, resources, personal commitments etc….in order for you to enjoy freedom. But watch! although many price have been paid for us to be free, there are many who are still in bondage…

And so, when Jesus taught this important lesson on freedom in John 8, it is important to note that he wasn’t talking worldly freedom as we know it, in that He wasn’t talking about been free to do what you want to do or free to say what you want to say, or free to live as you want to live…Rather, he was talking about true freedom – the freedom that comes from surrendering to God. Elaborate! Because you see, you can have freedom to live how you want to live and still be in bondage, you can have all the money to buy what you want buy and still be in bondage, you can have companionship & friendship & still be sad & lonely. And so, true freedom, radical freedom watch! does not come from things, neither does it come from people but it only comes from God.

And so, Jesus said it like this in John 8:31-32 He said, “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

Now, what does “free indeed” mean? It means really, really, really free. You see, you can’t be rooted and grounded in God unless you are truly free… you can’t grow to become spiritual mature people if you are not truly free. And here is why.. because Radical freedom means 4 Things…

1). Radical freedom is a clear conscience. Micah 7:18-19; 1 John 1:9; Psalm 34:22 Proverbs 18:10

2). Radical freedom means personal access to God. Ephesians 3:12 Hebrews 4:16:

3). Radical freedom is the power to do what’s right. Romans 7:24-25

4). Radical freedom is living with meaning and purpose. 1 Peter 1:18
