Facing the Giant of Insecurity
Exodus 3
Moses was hiding for 40 years which is one generation. There were a lot of people he could have helped, trained, positively impacted but instead in this time he hid.
Regardless of what your setbacks were in the past – God knows what’s in your heart. God knew what was in Moses heart and so God reached out to him.
What caused Moses to feel insecure is usually what causes us to feel insecure
- Rejection – exodus 2:11-14 When people say no to you. It can drive a nail into your heart.
- Criticism – In Exodus 2:11-14. They asked Moses who made you a judge over us
- Comparison – In Exodus 3:18 It was the People’s comparison that led Moses to run into hiding.
Here are three Solutions to face and overcome rejection, criticism and comparison.
- Change my thinking – Romans 12:2. The world’s way of thinking will make you conform to the things that will destroy you. God’s way of thinking will make you rejects the world’s way of thinking and helps you to live the life that God wants you to live. In God you are a winner. You are the head and not the tail. You are the lender and not the borrower. You are above and not beneath.
- Embrace my uniqueness – Psalm 139:13. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. God says he has knit us together. Be yourself!
- I must trust my creator – Isaiah 64:8 – We are the clay and he is the potter. Some people are trying to shape themselves and they are still without form. But when you put yourself in the hands of God he will shape you. Too many people are busy working on themselves. They are leaving God out of the equation.
