Part 2 – When you are not liable for your setbacks
Introduction:
- Setbacks are common to all of us.
- It is easier to deal with your own setbacks than to deal with a setback that is caused by someone else’s negligence.
- The setbacks that Paul faces in Acts 27 is still prevalent today.
There are 3 reasons why people face setbacks:
- When they fail to listen to wise counsel. (Ecclesiastes 9:13-15 & Acts 27:10-11)
- When they listen to what’s popular/the majority. (Acts 27:11)
- When they rely on facts rather than God. (Acts 27:13)
Setbacks are like storms and when you are in a storm there are 3 things that storms will do to you:
- Storms/setbacks will cause you to be carried away from your goals. (Acts 27:15)
- Storms/setbacks will cause you to get rid of things that you used to value. (Acts 27:18)
- Storms/setbacks will cause you to lose hope. (Acts 27:20)
But God is bigger than your storms and your setbacks. He will give you an anchor that will keep you steadfast.
- God will be present in every storm or every setback. (Acts 27:21-23)
- God always has a purpose for every storm or setback. (Acts 27:24)
- God will keep his promise to you. (Acts 27:25)
- God will protect you. (Acts 27:34)
