Part 1 – When setbacks seem unchangeable & unrepairable

Introduction

  • Setbacks are very common to all of us. For example, Job had many setbacks in his life. (Job 1:1-14)
  • Despite Job’s setbacks, Job TRUSTED God and by the life he lived encouraged us to do the same. How do we T.R.U.S.T. God?

T means to

1) Tell God how you feel by trusting God with your emotions.

  • Unload your emotions on God. (Jeremiah 20:7)
  • Do not pretend that everything is alright when it is not.

R means to

2) Refuse to be bitter. (Job 1:21)

  • Bitterness will not positively change your situation. However, it will make the situation worse.
  • Maintain a hopeful attitude. (Habakkuk 3:17-18)

U means to

3) Unite with other believers. (Hebrews 10:25)

  • God never intended for you to go through setbacks on your own. (Job 36:18-24)
  • God created a helper for Adam. (Genesis 2:18)

S means to

4) Surrender my future to God. (Job 11:13-18)

  • Job completely gives up his will to God’s will.
  • Job was confident that God will bring him out of the situation.
  • Job did not let fear defeat his trust in God. (Job 2:9)
  • Job was determined to trust God even if it cost him his life. (Job 13:15)

T means to

5) Trust God for every detail of my comeback.

  • The setbacks that Job experienced were specifically & distinctly recorded.
  • God will restore every detail of your life. (Joel 2:35 & Job 42:10)

TRUST God to turn your setbacks into comebacks!
