Part 1 – When setbacks seem unchangeable & unrepairable
Introduction
- Setbacks are very common to all of us. For example, Job had many setbacks in his life. (Job 1:1-14)
- Despite Job’s setbacks, Job TRUSTED God and by the life he lived encouraged us to do the same. How do we T.R.U.S.T. God?
T means to
1) Tell God how you feel by trusting God with your emotions.
- Unload your emotions on God. (Jeremiah 20:7)
- Do not pretend that everything is alright when it is not.
R means to
2) Refuse to be bitter. (Job 1:21)
- Bitterness will not positively change your situation. However, it will make the situation worse.
- Maintain a hopeful attitude. (Habakkuk 3:17-18)
U means to
3) Unite with other believers. (Hebrews 10:25)
- God never intended for you to go through setbacks on your own. (Job 36:18-24)
- God created a helper for Adam. (Genesis 2:18)
S means to
4) Surrender my future to God. (Job 11:13-18)
- Job completely gives up his will to God’s will.
- Job was confident that God will bring him out of the situation.
- Job did not let fear defeat his trust in God. (Job 2:9)
- Job was determined to trust God even if it cost him his life. (Job 13:15)
T means to
5) Trust God for every detail of my comeback.
- The setbacks that Job experienced were specifically & distinctly recorded.
- God will restore every detail of your life. (Joel 2:35 & Job 42:10)
